'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the thrilling closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles following the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful shot from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately converted the rebound before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with supporters congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an unbelievable comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. In the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a fourth-round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after the team changed tactics. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs played positively.

City's Quality

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they are adept at dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're holding your own and then without warning they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and attention just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in his new home. At Orient he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at League Two the Manchester club, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without much intensity. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that development for club and country, excelling for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including two matches games against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Early Days

It has been a remarkable path for the kid from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a central player, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's sole appearance for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was closed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he says, smiling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to interact with the guys but I'm hoping to be the next one to drive independently and on the road. Franco is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
